Certified Translation Services in Egypt: How It Works (2026)
Certified translation of official documents for embassies and government entities in Egypt
Certified translation services in Egypt cover any document an authority needs in another language – from birth certificates and diplomas to contracts and medical reports. At COT – Consulting Office for Translation, certified translation is our core service since 1992. This page explains what the service includes, how ordering works step by step and what to prepare so your translation is ready on time and accepted first time.
What our certified translation includes
- A complete translation of the document, including stamps, seals, signatures and handwritten notes.
- The office's stamp and a statement of accuracy on every translated document.
- A copy of the source document attached to the translation.
- Layout that mirrors the original for easy comparison.
- Review by a second linguist before certification.

How to order, step by step
- Send your documents by WhatsApp or email, or bring them to one of our three branches (Maadi, Downtown Cairo, Mohandessin).
- Tell us the purpose – which embassy, university, court or ministry will receive the translation, and the language required.
- Receive a quote and delivery date before we start.
- Translation and review by specialist translators.
- Delivery – collect stamped copies from a branch or receive them by courier, plus soft copies by email.
How to prepare your documents
- Send clear, complete scans of every page, front and back.
- Include a copy of your passport so names are spelt consistently.
- Check the receiving authority's rules on document age and authentication before translating.
- Tell us how many certified copies you need.
Certified translation and legalisation
Certification confirms that the translation is accurate. It does not replace authentication or legalisation, which confirm the original document. Because Egypt is not a party to the Apostille Convention, documents for use abroad are often authenticated by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and legalised by the destination country's embassy. We tell you at which point the translation fits into that chain.
Where our translations are used
Clients use our certified translations with embassies in Cairo, Egyptian ministries and courts, universities in Egypt and abroad, banks and employers. Each authority decides what it accepts, so we always recommend checking the latest requirements. For background, read what a certified translation is and when it is required and our guide to translation for embassies in Cairo.
