认证翻译 (rènzhèng fānyì) means "certified translation". Trade, study and travel between Egypt and China keep growing, and with them the need for reliable certified translation of documents between Chinese, Arabic and English. COT – Consulting Office for Translation translates official, academic and business documents for use by Chinese and Egyptian authorities, embassies and companies. This guide explains which documents are commonly translated and how legalisation works.

Who needs certified Chinese translation?

  • Egyptian students applying to Chinese universities or scholarships – diplomas, transcripts, police certificates and medical forms.
  • Chinese nationals in Egypt – passports, marriage and birth certificates, degrees and driving licences translated into Arabic for Egyptian authorities.
  • Companies – commercial registers, contracts, invoices, certificates of origin and product documents for Egyptian–Chinese trade.
  • Families – documents for marriage registration or residence in either country.

Legalising Egyptian documents for China

China joined the Apostille Convention in November 2023, but Egypt is not a party, so Egyptian documents for China are still legalised. According to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Cairo, the steps are:

  1. Notarisation or certification by the competent Egyptian authority.
  2. Authentication by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  3. Consular legalisation by the Chinese Embassy, submitted through the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Cairo.

Ask the Chinese university, employer or authority whether they want the translation attached before or after legalisation, and whether it should be in Chinese or English.

Chinese documents for use in Egypt

Documents issued in China are generally certified in China and legalised by the Egyptian Embassy or consulate there, then authenticated by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and translated into Arabic for the Egyptian authority. We translate Chinese documents into Arabic for ministries, courts, banks and the commercial registry.

Quality points specific to Chinese

  • Names: Chinese names are transliterated using Pinyin; we follow the spelling in the passport.
  • Simplified vs. Traditional: mainland China uses Simplified characters; tell us if your document is for Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan.
  • Company names: we keep the registered Chinese name alongside the English or Arabic rendering.
  • Seals: red company and official seals (印章) are translated and described, as they carry legal weight.

Frequently asked questions

Do you translate directly between Chinese and Arabic?

Yes. We translate directly between Chinese and Arabic as well as Chinese and English, which avoids errors that creep in through an intermediate language.

Which documents do Chinese universities usually ask for?

Typically degree certificates, transcripts, a passport copy, a medical examination form and sometimes a police certificate. Check your university's list.

Can you translate Chinese contracts?

Yes, including sales contracts, distribution and agency agreements, with consistent legal terminology.

How should I spell my name in a Chinese translation?

For Egyptian applicants, we keep the Latin spelling from your passport next to the Chinese rendering, so Chinese officials can match the translation to your passport without confusion.

Can I order remotely from China?

Yes. Send scans by WhatsApp or email; we deliver soft copies by email and stamped copies by courier or for collection in Cairo.
